Frequently Asked Questions
Starting therapy can feel overwhelming, especially when you don't know what to expect. Here are some of the questions I hear most often to help you feel a little more at ease before getting started.
Although I'm qualified to work with couples and families, I'm currently only accepting individual clients.
I am an out-of-network provider and do not bill insurance directly. My fee is $200 per 50-minute session. If your insurance plan offers out-of-network mental health benefits, I can provide you with a superbill to submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement. Reimbursement is determined by your individual insurance plan.
I require 24 hours' notice for cancellations or rescheduling. I understand that life happens, and sometimes plans change. Cancellations with less than 24 hours' notice and no-shows are subject to a cancellation fee.
Absolutely not. You set the pace. We'll start where you feel comfortable, and you only share what you're ready to share. You don't have to tell your entire story on day one.
Sessions are conversational and paced to you. Some sessions may focus more on talking and gaining insight, while others may incorporate your body and nervous system. We'll figure out what feels most helpful together. Therapy isn't about being told what to do. It's about having a space to slow down, understand what's happening, and work through it together.
Sessions are 50 minutes.
It depends on your goals, needs, and availability. Most clients start with weekly or biweekly sessions, and we can adjust the frequency as things change.
Yes. I offer telehealth sessions for established clients. At this time, I'm not accepting new clients who are seeking exclusively virtual therapy.
You're right on track. I'm a complete stranger. It would be weird if you weren't at least a little skeptical of the process at first. You don't need to have it all figured out before you start, and you don't have to know exactly what to say. We'll take it at a pace that feels comfortable, and you're always welcome to ask questions along the way. The first step is simply seeing whether we're a good fit.
You don't need to be in crisis or have everything figured out to start therapy. If you feel stuck in patterns you don't fully understand, find yourself constantly overwhelmed or anxious, or feel disconnected from yourself, therapy may be a good place to start. You also don't have to know exactly what you need to work on. Sometimes the first step is simply recognizing that something doesn't feel right and wanting to understand why. We can start there and figure out the rest together.
